Useful Books

There are a wealth of books on subjects of interest to workers.

Some of these books are excellent, some not so good. Some books have useful chapters whilst the rest is not of
interest. The first thing to be said is that, as yet, the perfect book on the subject of working with hard-to-reach
and vulnerable clients has not yet been written (nowhere near). There are a few attempts to cover subjects like
street outreach or prison inreach but these are not well developed. This being the case, the AER at present is
listing books on subjects that will be of interest to workers. We also list books on subjects that might seem a little
left-field to many workers such as persuasion and sales books - it is our contention that these books often speak
more clearly to workers than books on therapeutic practice (see our article on this).

The books are scored out of ten for usefulness and with each review there is a link to the book on Amazon so
that it can be bought (UK and US Amazons are signified by little flags).

This is a work in progress.

As with everything here, the AER is interactive, if you find a book you think we should look at, let us know. The
idea, as always is to provide the best possible resource for workers in Assertive Social Intervention fields.
'Must Have' books
Some of the books we list on this site
